Trevor Borden is Vice President of Evaluations at Erdol LLC. Trevor has 30 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and development - primarily in geophysical exploration in Canada as well as Brazil, Columbia, USA and Chad. Recently, Trevor has been working in Data Sciences and Software Development in the medical imaging and artificial intelligence space. He holds a B.Sc. Hons. in Applied Science from Queen's University.
Daryl Stepanic
VP, Engineering
Daryl Stepanic is Vice President of Engineering at Erdol LLC. During his 30+ year career in the energy sector, Daryl has demonstrated a history of successfully delivering asset development results, value enhancement opportunities and reservoir economic evaluations of oil and gas properties across Western Canada. Prior to joining Erdol LLC, Daryl was VP Engineering at Navitas Asset Management and Fractal Energy Resource Holdings where his team evaluated over $1.5 billion of potential oil and gas assets for acquisition across Western Canada over a 3-year period. Prior to that, Daryl held a broad range of leadership roles for ConocoPhillips, including VP Development, where he was responsible for a $1 billion annual capital program for its Western Canadian Subsurface groups. Daryl has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1987, including several years spent working internationally, having held a variety of technical and management positions with companies such as Petro-Canada, Canadian Hunter Resources and Burlington Resources. Daryl holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary and is a member of APEGA.
John Lerette
VP, Geophysics and Geology
John Lerette is presently the Vice President of Geology at Erdol LLC. His 33 years of experience spans much of the stratigraphic column in the Western Canadian Basin, with 4 new pool discoveries and more than 50 MMbbls of reserve additions to companies large and small. His strengths are detailed reservoir evaluation and identification of bypassed oil and gas. In addition, he has worked projects in Peru, Brazil, and Chad. Mr. Lerette holds a B.A. (Economics and Math) and B.Sc. (Geology) both from Dalhousie University.
Troy Smith
VP, Land
Troy Smith is currently the Vice President of Land at Erdol Canada. He has over 29 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas sector. Previously, Mr. Smith worked as the Vice President, Land at Steelhead Petroleum from Oct 2015 to July 2020 and at Endurance Energy from 2009 to Sept 2015. Between 2001 and 2009, he was a founder, an officer, and served as the Vice President, Land at three companies; Pegasus Oil and Gas, Dunvegan Energy, and Ice Energy. Mr. Smith was also Land Manager at Avalanche Energy from 1999 to 2001. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Calgary and is a long-standing member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.
Alessandro Novaes
Erdol Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board
Since 2017 Alessandro has been focusing his entrepreneurial efforts on companies that develop and apply AI solutions for the e-commerce/e-tail ecosystem, ranging from assortment definition, inventory management, digital advertising and credit. Alessandro served as Director of Strategy and Chairman of the Board at Quartile Digital Inc., a prominent digital advertising agency and optimization platform for Amazon retailers all over the world, presently managing approximately $100 million in net ad sales a month.
Alessandro began his career as a high impact entrepreneur in 1994, as he became the Managing Partner for W. Washington, a private transportation management company based in São Paulo, Brazil. In 2001 Alessandro founded the first independent oil and gas production company in Brazil (W. Petroleo) and successfully sold it in 2013. He still holds stakes in infrastructure companies in Brazil. Currently Alessandro is the owner/CEO of ERDOL RESOURCES CORP, a Canadina independent producer, and also a Director in Wieder Energy, a company focused on bringing solutions and technology to Onshore opertators in Brazil
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineer in Instituto Maua de Tecnologia and an MBA in Financial Risk Management in FIPECAFI – USP.
Jean Bittencourt
Erdol Board Member
Mr. Bittencourt holds a Graduate dregree in Petroleum Engineering from Fluminense University/IBMEC, BSc in Electric Engineering from the Uberaba University as well as an MBA from FGV-BA.
He has over 15 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry in senior executive/management positions in private independent onshore companies in Brazil, including W.Washington, W.Petroleo SA, BrazAlta Resources, Nova Petroleo and Petrosynergy Ltda.
Jean is an experienced Production Engineer, in areas such as well performance optimization, production focusing on oilfield revitalization, treatment and disposal facilities, oil and gas trading, oil exploration licensing, wells exploration and drilling over Onshore Reconcavo Basin. Jean is also a member of HS&E and Reserves Committee.
Currently Jean works as Head of Termini SA, partner in a consortium for the management of the largest bus-train stations in Latin America, and second busiest in the world by traffic volume, serving around 8,500 buses and 219,000 people on an average weekday, and more than 35 million people per year.
Hugo Assumpção

Hugo Reis de Assumpção has more than 25 years of experience and has built a solid experience in Finance working in several industries, such as Consulting, Retail Banking and Credit Card, Oil&Gas, Logistics and e-Commerce, having led teams in companies such as Accenture, Credicard, Citibank, W. Petroleo among others, in Brazil, USA, Canada and Europe. Assumpção currently serves as Chief Financial & Investor Relations Officer of Smiles Fidelidade SA, the largest and the only publicly traded Loyalty Program company in Brazil, demanding the highest corporate governance standards. Acted for approximately 10 years as CFO for the first independent oil and gas production company in Brazil, until the company was successfully sold in 2013. Hugo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Escola de Engenharia Mauá, an International Finance MBA from IBMEC, and executive programs certifications: Controllership from FGV-SP and Board Members from IBGC.

Gary Gwartney
Advisory Board Member
Gary Gwartney is a professional engineer that brings over 30 years professional engineering experience in all areas of Oil and Gas operations and exploitation. Mr. Gwartney has domestic and international experience in operations, facility construction, drilling, completions, joint ventures, exploitation and property evaluation for acquisitions. In addition to his technical background, Mr. Gwartney has management experience in small to intermediate sized Canadian producers and was a founder and director of a Canadian junior capital pool corporation. Mr. Gwartney graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 and is a Professional Engineer in good standing in the Province of Alberta.
